Ayodele Fayose, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a former governor of Ekiti State, has called for social media platforms to be regulated in the nation in accordance with the law for both platform owners and users. He notes that the nation cannot continue without regulating social media.
Speaking further, the former Ekiti State governor admitted that social media is very important to our existence and that social media is playing major roles in crim
e fighting, insisting that it must be regulated, so as to prevent people from spreading fake news.
Mr Fayose made this disclosure in a post he made on his official X handle. He also noted that the level of its abuse and use for misinformation on social media platforms is worrisome, stating it clearly that no society or responsible government will fold its arms at these excesses.
In addition, he made it known that social media is being regulated in other countries of the world and therefore Nigeria should not be an exception. He further noted that social media users with good intentions should not be afraid for any reason. CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
