The intervention followed a meeting between President Tinubu and GAC members in Lagos on Friday, shortly after the president’s return to the state for the year-end break. Sources familiar with the meeting revealed that the GAC Chairman, Alhaji Tajudeen Olusi, initiated the discussion, briefing the president on the current political climate in Lagos.
Olusi raised concerns about the Speaker’s alleged disrespect toward Governor Sanwo-Olu, stressing the need to uphold the dignity of the governor’s office—a sentiment that echoes the values held during Tinubu’s tenure as Lagos State governor from 1999 to 2007.
Specific incidents of alleged misconduct were discussed, some of which required direct intervention from GAC members. Following Olusi’s presentation, other GAC members, including Obasa, were given the chance to share their perspectives.
When it was President Tinubu’s turn to speak, he expressed strong dissatisfaction with Obasa’s actions. The president criticized the Speaker not only for his treatment of Governor Sanwo-Olu but also for his failure to effectively manage the state’s political dynamics. Sources disclosed that Tinubu specifically referenced a controversial bill proposed by the Lagos State Assembly, which sought to enable the removal of the chairman of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC). Tinubu reportedly dismissed the bill, stating, “Which governor will sign such a bill into law, anyway?”
After the formal meeting ended, Obasa is said to have requested a private conversation with the president to clarify his position. However, two other GAC members joined this impromptu session, where the criticisms against the Speaker were reiterated.
An unexpected moment during the meeting came when Seyi Tinubu, the president’s son, participated in the second session. After listening to the discussions, he asked a pointed question: “Although I’m the youngest here, I just needed the clarity for my understanding. Please, why do you have groups within the party when they cannot unite the party?” This question reportedly struck a chord with those present, marking a notable conclusion to the meeting.V!EW BEFORE THEY GOT DELETED| Baltazar FROM Equatorial Guinea TRENDS AGAIN AS OVER 50 OF HIS FRESH BEDR00M V!DEOS SVRFACES ONLINE.
