The discord reignited after Terver Akase, former Chief Press Secretary to ex-Governor Samuel Ortom, shared a photo on Facebook showing Ortom and Akume at a public event, appearing in good spirits.
Utweets reports that the post prompted a quick backlash from Tersoo Kula, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Alia, who denounced the interaction as a “new low” and accused Akume’s camp of collaborating with Ortom to undermine Alia’s administration.
Kula criticized the alleged political maneuvering, claiming that Akume’s allies were exploiting Ortom to settle old political scores and derail Benue’s progress, particularly its transformation into an agricultural hub under Alia.
Akase, defending Ortom, advised Governor Alia to focus on governance instead of fueling political tensions. He asserted that Ortom had been invited to the event and was exercising his right to free association.
