Gists9ja reports that Akpabio made these remarks during a weekend visit by Okpebholo to his residence in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, as noted in a statement by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua.
Akpabio: Okpebholo’s Leadership is God-Ordained
Highlighting the divine nature of Okpebholo’s mandate, Akpabio said, “Your Excellency, every leadership comes from God, and God chooses whom He pleases. It pleases Him at this time to choose you and the APC to lead Edo people at a time like this.”
He commended the governor’s practical approach to leadership, emphasizing his ability to connect with the common man. Akpabio said, “You are a man of few words but full of action. Edo people have not misplaced their votes in choosing you. I am confident that your leadership will bring development and transformation to your state.”
Strengthening Edo’s Ties with the Federal Government
Akpabio lauded the Edo electorate for choosing the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the September governorship election, emphasizing the strategic advantage of aligning the state with the federal government.
“Edo State is one of the states in the South-South, and before Niger Delta, this is predominantly a minority area in Nigeria. Aligning with the federal government enhances our ability to contribute to nation-building,” he said.
The Senate President underscored the region’s significance, stating, “Most of the resources that have sustained Nigeria for decades come from this area, but representation at the national level has often been lacking. With the APC, we have an opportunity to change that narrative.”
Okpebholo Seeks Akpabio’s Guidance
Governor Okpebholo expressed his admiration for the development strides in Akwa Ibom under Akpabio’s leadership, noting that his visit was to gain insights and learn from the Senate President’s wealth of experience.
“Seeing the development in Akwa Ibom, I have come to learn from my leader, seek his advice, and draw from his wealth of experience.
