In a statement issued on Thursday, October 17, 2024, Edafe highlighted a case where a POS operator received a ransom payment of N4,000,000 from kidnappers, only earning a mere N40,000 in profit.
He cautioned them against becoming victims of kidnappers and their operations.
“Don’t be a tool for kidnappers to collect ransom. It must be traced to you.
“My message to POS operators: transactions above N500k can get you into trouble. Don’t be a tool for kidnappers to collect ransom. It must be traced to you. She received N4,000,000 ransom from kidnappers and her profit was just N40,000,” he stated.
Edafe highlighted the importance of vigilance and adherence to federal regulations to prevent exploitation by criminals.
“POS operators are urged to report any suspicious activities and ensure compliance with the guidelines to avoid legal repercussions. “Be wise.
