Cristiano Ronaldo could potentially join his long-time rival Lionel Messi in Major League Soccer (MLS), according to emerging reports.

Peterborough owner Darragh MacAnthony is considering signing Ronaldo from Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr.

The 39-year-old, who joined Al Nassr after a fallout with Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag in 2022, has a year left on his contract.

MacAnthony plans to buy a team in the United Soccer League (USL), which is below the MLS. The presence of Lionel Messi in the MLS has made the sport more attractive to investors. Ronaldo’s potential move to the MLS would rekindle the rivalry between the two superstars, who have dominated football for nearly 15 years.

“I believe valuations will skyrocket in the next ten years, thanks to the Apple deal and the Messi effect,” MacAnthony told talkSPORT.

“Cristiano Ronaldo will likely move to the MLS when he’s finished in Saudi Arabia. Football will be huge in America, and I think if I buy a USL club now for £8-10 million, it could be worth double or triple in the next five years.”...For More CONTINUE THE FULL READING▶▶
