Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested a serving soldier over alleged drug trafficking in Delta State and recovered arms while dismantling suspected drug hideouts in a separate operation in Cross River State, in a continued crackdown on criminal activities...READ FULL; ORIGINAL POST; FROM SOURCE.

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the operations were carried out on March 20, 2026, in Delta and Cross River states as part of ongoing military efforts to combat illicit drug trade and arms proliferation.

In Delta State, the sources said the suspect, attached to the 14 Field Engineer Regiment, was apprehended at about 5:30 p.m. around Head Bridge in Asaba, Oshimili South Local Government Area, during a routine operation codenamed “Operation Checkmate” by troops of 63 Brigade Garrison.

The soldier was intercepted in a vehicle conveying a bag containing assorted hard drugs. Preliminary findings indicated that he had allegedly abandoned his duty post at the arms store to transport the illicit substances to a suspected drug dealer in Asaba.…READ FULL; FROM THE SOURCE.
