Uzodinma did not annex our party to Imo State – Abia APC clarifies

The All Progressive Congress, APC, in Abia State has absolved the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma of hijacking the party from APC leaders in Abia and annexing it to Imo State.

It has also denied the claims that the Imo State Governor hijacked proposed Federal Board appointments meant for true APC members in Abia.

These denials were made by the interim Publicity Secretary of the APC in Abia, Benedict Godson while addressing the press about the accusations tabled against Governor Hope Uzodinma by an APC member, Nze Esiaga.

Esiaga had in a petition he wrote to President Bola Tinubu, alleged that Governor Uzodinma had annexed the Abia State chapter of APC to Imo State and was also interfering in the affairs of the broom party in Abia, from his seat of power in Imo State.

According to Esiaga, Governor Uzodinma played some roles during the APC primary election of 2022 and also allegedly influenced the emergence of Donatus Nwankpa to replace the late Friday Nwosu, who was the National Welfare Secretary of APC before his death.

He further alleged that the Governor pencilled down the names of Abia people to be given Federal appointments, saying that such control of his party by a Governor from another state is unacceptable to Abia citizens.

But reacting to the allegations, the APC in Abia State dismissed the claims as false, saying that Governor Hope Uzodinma should even be commended for supporting the party and strengthening it in the entire South East region.

The Abia APC which warned against any attempts to discredit the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum and some top APC leaders in Abia both living and dead, maintained that the party was not annexed to Imo State, as posited by Esiaga.

Godson said that despite all the early challenges faced by the APC in the South East, boasting of two state governors, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ministers with notable positions and portfolios, so many elected National Assembly and State Assembly members, top political appointees are all signs that the regional leadership and network of union in the region is working perfectly well.

He said for states like Abia where APC is yet to get the seat of governor, the strength and support from states like Imo and Ebonyi where the party is in control of executive power cannot be overemphasized, stressing that Governor Hope Uzodinma has supported the party well at all times.

Godson further said the APC is poised to win the forthcoming Anambra State Governorship election, with the party’s increasing strength in the South East.

The Publicity Secretary commended President Bola Tinubu for running an all-inclusive administration through appointments and projects.
