According to emerging reports, a campaign calling for Osimhen to be restricted from wearing his mask has begun in Turkey after an incident with Rizespor’s Khusniddin Alikulov left the player with a broken cheekbone after last Saturday’s game.
Many believe the metal fasteners on the 25-year-old’s mask pose a risk to opponents.
This comes in the wake of the highly-anticipated Intercontinental Derby between Galatasaray and Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce side this weekend.
The reigning African Footballer of the Year has been wearing a protective mask since suffering a serious facial injury after colliding with Milan Skriniar in Napoli’s clash with AC Milan in November 2021.
