Chigamba recounted that last week, the men, who work as gold miners, forcibly stripped her naked, alleging she had picked up gold that had accidentally fallen during mining activities. They conducted a humiliating search of her private parts but found nothing.
Despite reporting the matter to Mgodi Police, Chigamba said no action was taken. She claims the officer handling her case dismissed it, advising her to resolve the issue within the village instead of escalating it to the police.
“I feel humiliated as my entire village mocks me for being stripped in public. My children are also facing ridicule. Sometimes, I cry uncontrollably when I remember what they did to me,” Chigamba lamented.
Mgodi Police Station officer Kennedy Mbewe confirmed receiving the complaint but claimed Chigamba forgave the men, a claim she denies. He added that the police have summoned all parties involved to revisit the case.
