He stated that the conference would serve as a platform to address the various challenges facing the young population and highlight the opportunities available to them.
In his statement, he said, “I am delighted to announce the convening of a National Youth Conference. This conference will provide a platform to address the diverse challenges and opportunities faced by our young people, who make up more than 60 percent of our population.
“It will facilitate meaningful dialogue and empower our youth to actively participate in nation-building. By ensuring that their voices are heard in shaping the policies that affect their lives, we are paving the way for a brighter future.”
Reacting to the President’s speech at the conference, Reno Omokri in a post on X wrote: “The National Youth Conference is a good idea. Sowore is not a youth and cannot speak for the youth of Nigeria. His rejection of the NYC is a nullity.”
“Someone who will soon run back to NYC? Youths, embrace the National Youth Conference and table your desires for a better Nigeria. Projecting is better than protesting. Let the President and his administration hear from the youths. Real youths. Not fifty four year olds with potbellies and an eighties haircut.”
