Captain Martin Odegaard picked up a serious ankle injury during the September break whilst playing for Norway, which severely limited Mikel Arteta’s options in midfield.
Bukayo Saka stepped up to fill the creative void left by Odegaard, and he now leads the Premier League for assists.
Saka has been outstanding all season, but Arsenal’s worst fears may have come true as he played in England’s 2-1 home defeat to Greece in the Nations League.

Arteta will now hope that Saka returns to Arsenal before England’s next match against Finland on October 13 and that his injury is nothing serious.

Thomas Partey and Kai Havertz both pulled out of International duty with suspected issues, but it is anticipated that both will be fit to return for Arsenal.
Kieran Tierney is still sidelined, but Takehiro Tomiyasu made his return against Southampton just before the break, whilst Ben White and Jurrien Timber could return soon after missing the squad in the victory over the Saints.
