The video showed the moment the military officers stopped the couple, dragged them out of their car, and subjected them to severe physical abuse.
Reacting in a post on Instagram, Sowore said: “Nigerian Army officers have no right to settle scores with Nigerians on the street even when the civilians might be wrong; it is for the police to determine after a thorough investigation.”
The couple who have been identified as Mr Vershima Mker and Ms. Lami Jennifer Iorvihi have since accused Major General G.S. Mohammed and his aide, Corporal A. Abubakar, of physically assaulting them following a road incident in Abuja.
According to reports, the incident occurred when Mr Mker overtook Major General Mohammed’s vehicle.
According to the couple, after the assault, the Major General Mohammed and his aide handcuffed them, shoved them into the trunk of a vehicle, and transported them to the Gwarinpa Police Station.
Meanwhile, Acting Chief of Army Staff, COAS, Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede has called for an immediate probe into the incident.
This was disclosed by the Director of Army Public Relations, Maj.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, in a statement on Tuesday, November 19, in Abuja.
The statement noted that the circumstances that led to the incident weren’t clear at the time of issuance.
“However, the Acting Chief of Army Staff has ordered an immediate investigation to unravel the true circumstances surrounding this altercation.
“The Nigerian army remains committed to serving and protecting all law-abiding Nigerians as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. “Therefore, we urge the public to be rest assured that due diligence will be applied to reach a logical conclusion on this matter,” he said..… Read -T.he .Full _Article .Here..
