The hotel, Udoka Golden Point Hotel And Suites, a.k.a La Cruise Hotel, Oba, was demolished by the Anambra State Government in its effort to rid the state of insecurity.
The demolition took place a week after the state launched Operation Udo Ga AchË, special intervention force of 2,000 personnel, consisting of the police, army, navy, civil defence, DSS, and vigilante.
The state government also shared a video showing the demolition exercise on its social media handles.
When MyNigeria contacted the Anambra State Police Command, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Ikenganyia Anthony, said he was not aware of the incident of such a magnitude that generated nationwide reaction.
“I don’t have any information on it. I’m just hearing about it,” Ikenganyia said.
Meanwhile, during the demolition of the building, those thst carried out the exercise spoke of observing shrines and over 30 well-partitioned graves located on the last floor of the building.
Reacting, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a citizen of Anambra State, Joe Igbkwe, said, “Demolished evil hotel in Oba, Anambra State is just one of the hundreds of such den of lions in the South East Nigeria.
