The spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President and Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Paul Ibe, has accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike of orchestrating Peter Obi’s move from the PDP to the Labour Party.

Obi who was the vice-presidential candidate of the PDP in the 2019 presidential election, defected from the party in 2022 to become the presidential candidate of the LP ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Peter Obi became a significant force to reckon with among the political parties, becoming the voice of the third force with over six million votes within months. However, the PDP and Labour Party lost the 2023 election to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking in an interview with Seun Okinbaloye during his Mic On Podcast, Ibe said Atiku Abubakar was ready to allow the PDP presidential ticket to be zoned to the South East but Wike frustrated the move.

According to him, the former Rivers Governor insisted that the ticket be zoned to the Southern region because of his personal interest.
