This defeat significantly reduces Nigeria’s chances of advancing in the Qualifiers after Benin defeated the Super Eagles 2-1.
The Super Eagles had previously been held to a 1-1 draw against South Africa at Uyo Stadium.
In response, social media users have been reacting to the unexpected loss, with many expressing their disappointment towards the Super Eagles and their coach, Finidi George.
Some netizens in an attempt to tackle the coach, resurfaced an old song, “Temptation,” by music duo Psquare, which made suggestive remarks about Finidi’s capabilities.
In the 2007 hit song, Psquare, included lyrics about various Nigerian footballers of that time, including Finidi.
However, their lyrics about Finidi stated: “No start wetin you no go finish, I no be George Finidi…”
The video has led several netizens to jokingly refer to Psquare as prophets due to their lyrics coinciding with the recent losses under his leadership.
